No need to stress!

Daily writing prompt
What experiences in life helped you grow the most?

Easily said-no need to stress. I keep reminding myself and repeat this to myself – no need to stress. You can try it.

Every morning dropping my children to school has been the most pleasurable time but also the most stressful time. A lot of us face this time of the day when time is constrained and kids don’t get it at all that I too have a job and need to get there on time as patients will be waiting.

One morning we were late by ten minutes in dropping my son to school because he got caught up with a maths problem and would not budge till it was solved. We were about to reach school and I could not hold it any longer together. I burst out howling, crying almost hysterical. Moral values and responsibility phrases kept coming out in the most shrill voice. He had a smile on his face and before getting out of the car he said ‘ Mum, think about the bigger picture and the world, think what this means in ten years time, nothing will happen with ten minutes late, enjoy the day’. He walked out and I was left with a bursting headache and weeping alone in the car.

Whatever mumbled swearing went on in my head but it did make me realise that all that shouting, crying and emotional upheaval did me no good. The headache took a while to get better, eyes were sore all day and literally my heart ache probably left some cholesterol deposits in my arteries. He will learn the importance of time as he grows older.

There have been situations which will affect our lives to a great degree, most of the time I cannot do anything about it. I know impact will be big but cannot be helped. Facing it is the only solution. No need to stress.

Stress has only negative implications on our health. How can we avoid it. Pre-empting, writing lists, prioritising from them, awareness of time constraint and ones own limitations help to keep carrying on.

It is what it is– another good one to remember when things feel out of control. Believing in myself is very important. Working hard in every situation and doing my duty is what matters.

Enjoy every moment and be happy always.
