World Outside

From the window I can see

Clear blue orange skies,

Sunshine all across the horizon,

The red roofs of the buildings,

The almost bare winter trees.

From the window I can hear

The continuous rapture of the bird,

The constant music it is making,

The way the whistle is breaking into

The stillness of the cold winter morning.

From the window I can smell

The rain that has wet the road,

The parched earth fumes rising up,

The crusting fallen leaves mushing up,

The wood burning and heating up.

This window is my little world

It makes me see feel and hear it all,

How much more do I need

My full life has been spent along side

This opening to the happiness outside.

I wrote this poem as I was waking up on New Years Day of 2023. Happy New Beginning for everyone.
