Negative feelings

What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

I do get negative thoughts and they are unreasonable. Realising this has helped and I have developed some ways to cope with these.

I concentrate on anything positive that I can see around myself. The fact that I am standing on my two legs is a positive and I will concentrate on that.

Sometimes I get worrying thoughts about my near and dear ones. I start to think about the good things they have and keep bringing myself back to their positives.

The worst times are in bed when I can’t sleep due to negative thoughts. It disrupts my sleep schedule and keeps me awake. I have to remind myself of the strategy to concentrate on something positive and to keep it going.

So my number technique is to think something positive as soon as negative thoughts come in. Do try it. It should help.

  1. Focus on all the past challenges that the Lord has helped you to successfully overcome in your life. Meditate on these victories 🙏🙏

  2. I tend to let the bad/sad thoughts run their course, otherwise they come back repeatedly. But I mostly focus on the positive in other times (though it might not be reflected in my blogging, cause that’s a mental dump and I have no need to dump good thoughts).

  3. When I have negative thoughts, I pray to Christ for guidance, and I also look for a Bible verse related to whatever negative thoughts I have.

  4. Take the time to realize your thoughts don’t dictate who you are. They are but passing moments in time. Good thoughts, bad thoughts, neutral thoughts, they all are just small moments and you can’t change them but you can free yourself of the anxiety that causes you to lose sleep.

Relax, take some time to focus on if you have any tension in your body when you think of these thoughts. Breathe with the intention of releasing those tense spots and let your thoughts run your course. The stronger your body and mind get, the less these thoughts will affect you and the more free and calm you will feel at night.

Also activity during the day may cause you to get better sleep as you will be much more tired and won’t be restlessly thinking while trying to get to sleep

    Hope this helps!!
