What makes you nervous?

Water makes me nervous. The idea of drowning is scary to me. I did learn swimming at the age of 36 years. I can doggy paddle and my feet need to be able to reach the floor otherwise I can’t swim.
I literally get nightmares about falling in water. You must think I should learn to swim further, and yes I know that but not sure why I have not done it yet. I must look into this.
Being in the water does make me feel good and happy. Every bit of me becomes alive. I must be in control though otherwise I can’t go further.
Writing about this makes me happy so I feel I should join some adult lessons again and get over my nerves.
I am same as you on this topic. The last thing I did as a teenager at school was be able to do two widths in a simming pool. But swimming classes were over by then, so I had no chance to improve and try and work on my confidence further with it.
As for not doing it as an adult, a couple of reasons prevented me from doing it. I doubt I will get in a swimming pool now.

I totally get that. Water can feel overwhelming, and it takes real courage to face that fear.
