Holiday Memoirs

Day 7

A good night sleep does the trick and we got up refreshed. We had decided to see the kiwi conservation place. It was phenomenal to see kiwis but we were not allowed to photograph them. They are nocturnal creatures so the whole place was dark and it took at least five minutes to get accustomed to the darkness and then we could see the birds. It was thrilling to see them.

We had noticed some buses going to Arrowtown which we then went on. It is one of the cutest and oldest towns nearby and every shop tells a history.

We had the best pie in the world in Arrowtown. I guess we were famished by then. It was lovely to simply sit and relax in the sun.

The shops were boutique styles and the whole town was full of tourists. There was music playing on the fairground area with few market stalls.

After this we had to return to the hotel to get freshened up as we were exhausted with all the walking.

Around five in the evening we set off to see the botanical gardens. It is situated on a peninsula in the Lake Wakatipu. The well manicured lawns, flowers, trees and lake makes it the best garden I have ever seen.

We stayed around the lake until sunset and had dinner there before heading back. Enjoy these photos.
