Who Won!!

I am reading The Gita, it is a Hindu religious excerpt which expresses Lord Krishna’s teaching to Arjun in the epic book of Mahabharata.

I keep it by my bedside and read it especially in times of stress. anxiety or dilemma. It somehow brings meaning to every situation and kind of tells me what might be the right thing to do.

In conversation with a friends mum this came up. She asked me who won in the Mahabharata war. I got very confused. From my point of view I don’t really know who won the war. All the Kauravas were killed. Pandavas technically won but is it so? How can you win after killing your own? One of the best characters of Mahabharata is Bhismpitamah, he got killed.

How can anybody win a war, where so many people have died? How can Arjun rest in peace and be happy after killing his own cousins. There should definitely have been a better way to solve the dispute.

Lord Krishna can still help us with all the unrest in the world. Loosing one’s own is painful enough but imagine killing them for no purpose. Where is reasoning gone? May be I need to read further and understand it better. Any global leader that can bring about peace with reason will bring happiness in the true sense.

  1. Lord Krishna tried his best to make Kauravas see reason and give back even five villages to Pandavas when they came back from exile, which is rightfullytheirs. But Duryodhana refused.
He had exhausted every possible avenue to avert war.
If Pandavas meekly went away to avoid war it would have been the victory of evil over righteousness.

  2. I would like to suggest you to read the whole Mahabharata. And by the way as you are reading the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, you must have read that, the Birth and Works of Lord Krishna are Divine
( janma karma cha me divyam || Gita 4:9 )
Lord Krishna lifted the Sri Govardhan Hill, He broke Twin Arjun trees at a very very early age. When we can’t explain these divine plays of him, we must not dare to judge his actions with our limited intelligence. Hare Krishna

  3. Wish you a good spiritual journey Om Shanti
    Hare Krishna
