Sculptures.

Good weather and the lifting of lockdown gave us a real sense of freedom.

We booked tickets to Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Beautiful landscape and sculptures dotted around. The pregnant woman above when seen from far away gives a different idea about it, when we got close to it we were stunned by the intricacies on the other side which is not visible when walking towards it. Damien Hirst is a genius in creating these sculptures. the one below of the unicorn also has the attention to detail running through nerve and muscle. Being a doctor these figures made the most sense to me.

We did some uphill climbs and had a small picnic. Nature is at its best in spring I feel. There were bird watchers sitting around the park with cameras and binoculars. I felt that’s what I want to do as well, simply sit and watch the birds come and go from their nests. There were few islands completely left to nature to do what it wanted. old trees and bushes were all covered in old branches and bushes with nests in huge numbers. There were umpteen birds flying to and fro to their nests. An array of sounds were making the place so mysterious. I closed my eyes and got transformed into another world with those sounds.

The greenery around and vast landscapes made social distancing not an issue at all. We overdid our step count for that day.

I have loved our family day out in the Yorkshire area and I was telling my husband that I want to go back here to see the birds and sculptures again. It was a lot to take in on one visit. It was a fascinating day.
