Where are you?

Wanted to see you today.

Where are you?

I thought I heard your voice.

Is that you coming up the stairs.

I can still smell you on clothes and pillows.

Your glasses are still kept on the table.

Slippers have not been used for a while.

Why did you have to go?

I did not know to miss you would be so difficult.

My heart keeps calling out for you.

When will this vacancy be filled up?

Why did you leave us?

Keeping my father in my mind I have written this poem. We lost him suddenly and it left my family with a void, which even after sixteen years has not been filled up. Death is a horrible truth which we all face in our lives. This COVID era is making all of it come back for me and I see people suffering around me all the time. Any loss of friends and family is difficult but will happen. We can’t prepare for it. We have to continue to look after ourselves and make sure to be there for one another. Find ways to keep the mind engaged and try to be happy.

  1. Lost my mother , now it is going to be 20 long years but still all the grief & emptiness are still there as if she has left us just now.I can correlate with your pain dear , it is really unbearable.
